Safeguarding and Tutor Verification
Children learn on ClassDiaspora, so safety comes first. Here is how we verify tutors and what to do if something feels wrong.
How we verify tutors
Tutors who want the Verified badge complete a live video session with the ClassDiaspora team. Verification is only completed when the tutor passes this session. During the call we check:
- Qualifications: Certificates and training relevant to what they teach.
- Proficiency: Command of the subjects or Nigerian languages they offer.
- Online teaching: How they plan and deliver a lesson on a video call.
- Experience: Their teaching history and work with children.
- Interview: Questions on their approach, conduct and suitability to teach children.
The badge lasts for a set period and must be renewed. Not every tutor on ClassDiaspora is verified, so look for the badge on profiles, or use the verified only filter on Find Teachers.
Safety during lessons
- Moderated Base Sessions. A parent's first video call with a tutor is hosted and moderated by our team.
- Payment held until completion. When you book a tutor, ClassDiaspora holds the payment and releases it to the tutor only once the lesson is completed.
- Respectful messaging. Messages stay on the platform, and no one can send a third message in a row until the other person replies.
- Block anyone, any time. Blocked users can't message you.
Report a concern
- In a conversation, open the menu and choose Report and Block.
- On a Community post, use Report.
